Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitar player and music artist. She was the first and youngest woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was an Indian young sitar star. She's a child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the beginning of her career traveling between London as well as New Delhi. The first time she performed was in New Delhi when she was thirteen years old. She graduated in 1999 from her high school education within Encinitas CA. Anouskha even though she is just an teen, has enjoyed an extremely successful recording and performing career. She frequently joins her father in performances this she has been doing for a number of years. In 1998, she debuted Anourag as her debut solo record. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. She has performed at most famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka Shankar's professional life isn't limited to performing in music. In 2002 she published an autobiography titled Bapi The Love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as an Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Her career continues to grow and she will continue to achieve great success in the near future. Anoushka is a native of England and spent a lot of her youth split between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and attended the high school there. at the age of nine She began studying music with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar took place during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi in the year following. Anoushka gained many valuable experiences as she traveled with her father on his world tour. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as performing with George Harrison. It is the House of Commons Shield was presented to her from the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and the youngest winner of the award.
